Here's where you can list your news events, helpful hints to others, names of helpful agents you've come across, and so on. Write your own text and submit it on the form. This is a moderated site, so I will review the messages before they get published. Whatever you feel others would be interested in, but Be Nice, okay.

List your coming book signings, announcements of an upcoming book or a newly published one. This is the page where you can tell everyone else about you and your materials. Yes, put in links or e-mail addresses in the text if you want them displayed.

In the form, put in the text exactly as you want others to read it. Put in your name exactly how you want others to see it.
Put in your e-mail address. It will be hidden; only the webmaster (me) will see it. However, you can put your e-mail in the text of your message IF you want others to see it. And, put in your website address if you want folks to go there.
Finally, use the verification code so we can eliminate all those nasty sp*mmers.

Enjoy.

Whiskey Creek Press has just published (July) Being Someone Else, fourth in my Sticks Hetrick mystery series, which is set in a (fictional) rural community near Harrisburg PA.
When an out-of-state reporter is found murdered in the restroom of a disreputable bar the tendency to violence spirals in the rural Pennsylvania community, and the investigative trail keeps bringing Hetrick and his team back to the family of a wealthy doctor who has come back to his hometown in retirement.

Hetrick and his protégé Officer Flora Vastine are joined by an old friend from his State Police days as they unravel old secrets and mysteries in a tale with as many shocking twists as a country road.

First, I want to say congratulations on all the accomplishments happening with books, blogs, tours, e books, and interviews! The excitement is high and that is a fantastic feeling!

Second, I'm back with another dog story in tow.. This one is entered in the Haiti fund raising contest. For each page written up to 35 pages, money is donated to the Haiti fund. CHEN AN YO PALE! is Haitian Creole for The Dogs Speak. This is a story about a boy and his dog caught in the rubble. The Chronicles of The K-9 Boys and Girls on Locus Street is a series that deals with serious subjects humorously and a portion of the proceeds from print copies of Mandy The Alpha Dog to be given to animal rescue.

Chen An Yo Pale! is somewhat more serious than the other stories in the series, echoing some dire consequences but with a positive message. This is dedicated to the Haitian Children and can be read at http://www.bookrix.com/-paulashene

Since Digging Bones won third place in December 2009, I've had three stories being written - 2 are entered in the Family Story Contest at BookRix. THERE'S SOMETHING STRANGE... is again from the series Chronicles of The K-9 Boys and Girls on Locus Street. The dogs are figuring out how to help Grandma cope with Grandpa who has Lewy Body Dementia - a relative of Alzheimer's. This is a humorous look at a serious subject. The adult book is called LEWY VS AL, A FIGHT TO THE FINISH. This is an inside look at the battle for a mind - a short story.
Both stories have gotten excellent reviews.

My husband has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and I have first hand knowledge of this brain robber.

The link to the stories is http://bookrix.com/-paulashene

The third book is called THE MIDNIGHT CAPER, Chronicles of The K-9 Boys and Girls on Locus Street and I hope to see this in print mid 2010.

Hi Jim. Just got a five star review on my "Crossroads" from Midwest Book Review. Considering that they get 2500 requests a month and less than 700 get a review. Of those only so many get the Five Stars so, this means that "Crossroads" is indeed a good quality novel.

Hi All! Wanted to let you all know what happened in the writing contest on Bookrix.com with Digging Bones - we came in third. I, of course, would have loved first but third is an honor especially since I'm one of the new kids on that block. I've been telling my son that he needs to darken his cartoons which go with my stories - one of the judges made that observation and he has now taken that to heart and is playing around with the on line paint box ~ only time will tell. Thanks to all of you who took the time to read and vote!

Back again with update on the contest on BookRix.com ...Battle of Words V - Financial Crisis. Voting only goes until the 12th and I asked you all to read but in my sleep deprived state forgot to ask you to vote for Digging Bones. Joe Parente, an author on the site said: Digging Bones
Cute story. It's like an adult /child book with current thoughts and a 'how to fix the situation' story.

I like : 'Will I get more bone for my money?'
Thanks to all who've already read! Please vote.

I just read the previous news and feel a tad 'childish' in that my news seems small to these posting BUT I remind myself that I am writing for the younger crowd and small victories are big - Mandy the Alpha Dog was reviewed by two sisters in Texas [review can be seen on my Author Den site or at Amazon where Mandy is available to go home]. One youngster is slightly younger than the age group Mandy was slotted into and the other right in the middle - both girls like the jokes but got the message of the book.
And last night I had gone to my website Paul and Paula's Plaza Inc and after checking some stock - Mandy is on there too at a lower price just in time for the holidays - I decided to check Mandy The Alpha Dog and to check my name Paula Shene in the google listings. I was astonished. There were 20 pages [200 entries]pertaining to me - out of those 20 pages approximately 7 were someone else. After page 20 there were sporadic mentions with my name. Exposure, exposure, exposure...from NY to NZ...wow

Having been last year's first-place winner of the Westside Story contest I was invited to be this year's judge. I am in the midst of reading the submissions and have learned much for myself. That old rule about being satisifed with the ending applies, over and over. It isn't so hard to be a judge because I am foremost a reader. But you know the hard part? Ranking the first three finalists. I wrote about the judging process in my blog on www.authorsden.com.
