Laurie Loveman

Laurie Loveman is an author of novels and articles and is a recognized expert in the area of fire safety in horse and livestock barns. With a lifetime of experience in the horse industry and over twenty years in fire service, she has written many articles for leading fire service and equine journals, including an article that was adapted for a booklet by the Humane Society of the United States. Both horses and firefighting are central to her novels set in the 1930s in the fictional town of Woodhill, Ohio.

Laurie lives in the farmlands of northeastern Ohio. She grew up learning about agriculture and horses, then fire fighting, and finally put them together with a passion for teaching people about fire safety in livestock containment. She worked as a veterinary assistant at a small-animal clinic and managed the riding program at a private vacation club. She has raised kids, dogs and show class horses, spent twenty-plus years in the fire service world, restored old pickup trucks and Triumph TR-2s and 3s, and has helped friends restore a 150-year-old farmstead. Plus she’s found time to write some lovely novels called The Firehouse Family Series.
